Lucy or “Goose” as we call her is our most recent adoptee. She is a high energy, sweet, and incredibly loving blonde Chihuahua.
I met Lucy this past St. Patrick’s Day while shopping in Beverly Hills. My girlfriend and I were walking down Beverly Blvd after finishing lunch at Villa Blanca. A woman walked by with Lucy and I commented on how cute she was. As we started to talk, the woman mentioned Lucy was available and that she was fostering her for the weekend.
Lucy had been in the Los Angeles animal shelter for about 2 months and had no potential dog parents. That was pretty much all she had to say and I was hooked! My boyfriend, Ed, was arriving at our hotel shortly thereafter and I asked the woman if she would bring Lucy to meet him. I called Ed and told him what was up and, surprisingly enough, he was much more receptive to the idea than I would have expected. Their first meeting went great and he was completely onboard with the adoption.
Lucy and I bonded the first night. I don’t know if it was the room service she ate at the Four Seasons that sealed the deal, but she has been attached to my side ever since!
Lucy still has issues with other people and is a little shy, but after 3 months she is completely comfortable in her new home and now gets along quite well with her brother, Scooby, and her sister, Bentley. At first, Scooby thought he was getting a new girlfriend. After a few days, he was a little unhappy to realize she was staying permanently. He has since changed his opinion and they sleep and play together all the time.
Bentley loves her, too, especially when Lucy licks her face and cleans her eyes for her. Our house is NOT quiet but we wouldn’t have it any other way. My dogs are my children and I couldn’t imagine our life without them.
Another happy part of this story is that my girlfriend and her husband also adopted 2 sibling puppies from the same shelter. They are pictured below… aren’t they adorable?
Three wonderful dogs found homes that weekend but I wish I could do more for the ones still left at the shelter.
In honor of my dogs, we would like to announce a special shopping day to benefit the Human Society of Santa Clara Valley.
On Thursday, July 21st a good portion of our days sales will be donated. Animals make our lives so much better so please come and participate!
What a terrific reason to buy some amazing new clothes, right?
xoxo,
Deb, Ed, Scooby, Bentley and Lucy
