As an avid animal lover, my dogs are part of everything important to me. When I purchased Bella Rosa in 2004, there was no other choice for a mascot than my beloved Dalmation, Augie, (who was artfully captured in the original Bella Rosa logo, pictured below on one of our first shopping bags).

After thirteen and a half years in our family, Augie passed away in December 2007. After my heart began to heal, we adopted a three year old Chihuahua from the Animal Rescue Center on Monterey Road in San Jose. Scooby was found as a stray on Senter Road in East San Jose and I had no idea I could love a Chihuahua so much. Scooby has changed my life for the better.

As if one dog wasn’t enough, a year later, I encountered a Great Dane puppy whose mannerisims reminded me so much of Augie. After careful consideration, we decided to add a blue Great Dane puppy to our family. We named him Bentley, after my favorite car. Gentle and loving, Bentley is now two years old and outweighs Scooby by 120 pounds.

In 2010, I decided to change the Bella Rosa logo. Scooby and Bentley have now joined Augie in our design. I probably decided too quickly because three weeks ago, we adopted another dog! Four year old Chihuahua, Lucy, came from an animal shelter in Los Angeles. Lucy is a sweetheart and has two favorite places: in our laps or at our ankles!

Over the next few weeks, I’d like to introduce you to my beloved pets. At the end of our dog biography series, we’re planning to host a special shopping event with a percentage of proceeds benefitting a local animal shelter. I hope you stay tuned!

xoxo,
